What is OrganicGuide?
OrganicGuide is the one place where you can search for organic - and related - businesses and resources in your local area and be sure to get the results that are the most relevant to you. What's more, OrganicGuide is updated weekly to ensure our listings are current and accurate.
How do I use OrganicGuide?
Using OrganicGuide to find a business, product, or resource is easy. If you know the type of business or resource you're after but not the name of the actual business or resource, just enter one or more descriptive keywords in the 'What' box. Next, enter the zipcode or city you want in the 'Where' box. Then just click on the 'Search' button.
If you know the name of the business or resource you're looking for, simply enter it in the 'What' box and click on the 'Search' button.
How can I have my business or resource listed in OrganicGuide?
If an organic - or related - business or resource you're involved with doesn't already appear in OrganicGuide and you'd like to have it listed, simply fill out our online form and it'll be included just as soon as your information is confirmed.
How do I update my listing details?
If the information for your business or resource is incorrect or has changed, you can update your details by signing in to our Members Center.
What is the click-to-show phone and fax number function?
We've introduced a new click-to-show phone and fax number system so we can track exactly how many people have viewed your phone number. Prospective customers simply need to click on your number to see it in full on detailed listings and search results pages.
How do I find a business or resource if I don't know where it's located?
Simply enter the name of the business or resource, and leave the 'where' box blank. The search engine will find all possible matches for you.
How do I specify the location of the business or resource that I'm looking for?
The location can be entered as a zipcode, a region, a city or a state.
My search results aren't exactly what I'm looking for, why is this?
Generic searches can return businesses, products, and resources from multiple categories. Be more specific in your search query to get more relevant listing results. You can help us improve results by reporting an error or adding a missing business.
Why aren't there any results matching my search?
Misspelt keyword, business name or location - When searching, it's important to ensure you've correctly spelt the keyword, business name and location you're looking for. A misspelt word can lead to no results or irrelevant results.
The keyword you're using doesn't match any businesses - If the word or name you're entering isn't commonly used, there mightn't be any business listings including those words. Try using another word or more words for your search.
The specified location isn't recognized - If the location you're searching for isn't recognized it will also affect your results. For more accurate results, use a zipcode. You could also try expanding the area that you're searching for by entering a state rather than a region or a city.
What does Order By: 'Characters', 'Last Updated', 'Date Created', 'Popularity', and 'Rating' mean?
There are a number of ways your results can be sorted and displayed when searching on OrganicGuide:
Order by Characters - This option sorts listings alphabetically, from A to Z.
Order by Last Updated - When you click on this button, listings are re-sorted so that the ones most recently updated appear first.
Order by Date Created - When you click on this button, listings are re-sorted so that the ones created earliest appear first.
Order by Popularity - This option allows you to order listings according to popularity.
Order by Rating - This option allows you to order listings according to user ratings.
Are the search results ordered according to rating?
Search results can be ranked according to ratings by using the 'Order by Rating' option. Otherwise, only listing type, location, listing name, category and keywords impact the search ranking.
Can I change the keywords assigned to my listing?
Yes. Sign in to the Member Center to change the keywords associated with your listing.
How do I improve the position of my business in people's search results?
A Premium Listing lets you add more information to your listing to ensure it's returned in more search results. In addition, when a number of businesses are equally relevant to a search, your Premium Listing will appear at the top of the results. Find out more about obtaining a Premium Listing.
What happens if I forget my password?
If you forget your password, please fill out the Forgot Password form and follow the instructions. A password recovery email will be sent to the email address you provided during sign up. This will contain a link to the Member Center's 'Manage Account' section, where you'll be able to update your password.
What is 'View Favorites'?
The 'View Favorites' link will redirect you to a page displaying your favorite items. To add an item to your 'View Favorites' page, click the text 'Add to Favorites' on any item. If you haven't added any items as favorites, the page will appear blank.
Am I required to have an account to add items to the site?
Yes. In order to add any item, including Free items to the Guide you must have an account.
How can I sign up for an account?
Sign Up for an account by selecting an item and level and then clicking the 'Order Now' button. Fill out all fields, write down your username and password for future reference, choose the best payment gateway for you and follow the steps to finish the process.
How can I print an item from OrganicGuide?
Listings in OrganicGuide which have a detail page contain a 'Print' link. Once you click the link a new page will open with the information in printer friendly format.
Is it possible to tell a friend about something I find within OrganicGuide?
Yes. Each item with OrganicGuide contains a 'Sent to Friend' link. Click the link and a pop-up will open. Please fill out all fields in the pop-up and an email will be sent to your friend.
What do the numbers that appear after Category and Sub-Category names mean?
These numbers illustrate the total number of items registered under that category.
Is it possible to search for events by date?
You can search for events by date by clicking on any specific day/month you choose directly on the calendar appearing in the menu to the right.
Why am I receiving an 'Account Locked' message?
If you attempt to access your account and type in an incorrect password 5 times the account will lock for 1 hour. This is for security reasons. If you've forgotten your password, fill out the Forgot Password form. If you continue to experience problems, please contact us.
Does OrganicGuide moderate reviews?
All reviews submitted to OrganicGuide undergo a moderation process. This is to ensure nothing offensive, defamatory or derogatory makes it onto our site. Ideally all reviews should be up and running live within 24 hours. Delays do occur depending on volume so please be patient.
How does the moderation process work?
Our moderation process is designed to ensure all reviews are personal, objective, truthful, and fair. That's all the moderation process is for. We want to keep reviews real.
